Mobikid European Conference - Mobility, School Challenges, Best practices in Language Learning - October 26th - 2007, Stockholm: click here

Today, professional mobility is looked at as one of the major factors to develop Europe's competitivity on the global stage. Considered as an opportunity to improve the person's ability to take advantage from distant job or academic offers in the Union, or as a mean to reduce the gap between offer and demand on a European-wide labour market, mobility is the central point of personal, regional, national and continental economic dynamism strategy.

This is why the European Commission has decided to label 2006 as the European Year of Workers' Mobility. Let's see this as a collective challenge, to be addressed by everyone, in a shared effort to make of this year the tipping point of the mobility trends in Europe. But when such a global movement is launched, whose benefits are clear to everyone, one has to care about the lateral, and often hidden costs generated by the structural changes.

This is the spirit of the Mobikid project. A project who cares about the impact of geographic mobility on the child schooling. A project whose participants are analising the impact of mobility on the continuity of the child's scholar experience, and which will also consider the problem as a whole, addressing its psychological and sociological dimensions.

MobiKid is about how to ease the school transition process, and will not only study it as a phenomenon, but will give advices to make out the Mobility experience of the child a plus for the future, a chance to be more prepared, and more aware, in front of an always changing world.
